At the beginning of May we went home to Washington for my grandmother's memorial service. Grandma Carter had a huge heart for anyone who was willing to work hard and help themselves. If you were a bum, she'd tell you so. She worked hard all her life and developed a personality that was molded from her country-loving lifestyle. She grew up on a farm, loved animals, and loved to be outside. My fondest memories of Grandma Bev included: her making meatballs, gravy & mashed potatoes, homemade popcorn and juice, chocolate cake, and disciplining us grandkids for doing something we knew we shouldn't have. She loved traveling but it was done on her schedule. That's why she and grandpa had a motorhome. And they traveled around the Western United States quite a bit up until the past 5 years or so. She made sure I always had a nice birthday present to open and the same with Christmas. She taught me about money and how I was to save it. Of course, she did give us spending money and she was very generous in doing so. She was a fun-loving lady and never backed down from expressing her opinions and beliefs. She was what I call the Salt of the Earth. Miss you Grandma Bev! -Dane
